Soldier

Rise, Soldier, Rise
The great eastern Sun has come
Abandon your gun, trust in the one!
Flow, by the riverside, flow
The salmon return to the source
And you too must follow this course, bringing you back home
Back home

No man is forsaken
On either side, It’s all life
When I see you in the morning,
we’ll erase the lines that divide

Be free, children, be free
Sway with the dancing leaves, breathe with the trees
be taken by the breeze
Grow, mountain, grow
We pass in the blink of an eye
Both you and I, from all things earth and sky
Earth and sky

Flee With Me

Gingerly you start your song,
with dreams of crescendos
in strange colors for the dawn

A pulse and blast sent us back
Left us stranded without
the knowledge that we had

Flee with me, Flee with me and Leave this City

It was just you and I, underground
the buildings collapsed and crumbled
with a terrifying sound

We crawled through the rubble
when the heat died down
with what food & water & clothing could be found

Flee with me, Flee with me and Leave this City

You know it's true what I said,
there's no-one I'd rather be with
on a certain road to death

I'll carry you or you carry me
through the storm
Over these cold lightless months
we'll huddle and stay warm

Flee with me, Flee with me and Leave this City

Ashen faces pass us in the dark,
come join us my brother
no difference sets us apart
If we can last until the sun comes back
we'll plant our fields and sing under stars

Nothing Lasts

Your love's a meteor striking,
I'm the dust thrown into the sky.
Fall like acid rain teardrops dropping,
like bombs from your so0t-stained eyes.

Oh Disaster!
It's too bad, to have a soul so sad,
But you're not the only human who forgets to laugh
Cause Nothing Lasts!

Out on the open ocean passions rising,
Lifts us up into the air.
Wrapped up in rapture darling,
the shore approaches I don't care.

Oh Disaster!
It's too bad, to have a soul so sad,
But you're not the only human who forgets to laugh
Cause Nothing Lasts!

Oldsouls Folk 1

Oldsouls Folk at Timbre, Vancouver May 20th

I put on this show especially for my friend John Craigie who I used to play with in Colorado. He's the real deal in terms of travelling folk musician. Wonderful friend and excellent musician.

Also playing with us that evening was Joanna Chapman-Smith, a local folkster whom I used to play when I last lived in Vancouver 4 years ago. Her music is beautiful and unique, look out for her new album!

Shaden Garett, Sean Fultone, and myself enjoyed our second gig as a trio. We're naming this collaborative project for the solo work of Garett and I "12 Midnights." By the end of the summer we are hoping to have assembled a fuller band with bass and drums.

Introducing Our Pianist Sean Fultone

Life feels definitely charmed when you meet the exact people you need to meet. Meeting Garett for starters has been incredibly rewarding friendship wise and musically, too. Garett being an all-round loveable friendly guy of course knows other fantastic musicians and so we now are jamming with Sean who is so amazing I am completely out of superlatives worth the sum of their scrabble scores... Needless to say you will be hearing this guy on upcoming recordings and shows!

Saloon Salon in February

Amazing amount of talent in this city, in this room... Poets, musicians, storytellers, magicians gather every month in a different room of this house of artists. All dressed up no less in the theme of the month. Shaden Garett and I have played
here twice now and love the intimate and attentive gathering of beautiful people. This is one of the most wonderful ways to share one's art with others.

First Hawaii Gig, Sweet!

Rockstar Yogi In Hawaii!

Aw, I don't know what I've done to deserve the luck I've been having! First of all I'm on the Big Island in Hawaii, if that's not enough! Today, though, I was fixing up an old cruiser I got for free at my parent's Self-Storage business and got to talking to Leon - a down to earth Maori guy who stores all his music stuff there. We were chatting about music, paying dues, his gang past & getting past all that, and guitars etc... He turns out to be LT Smooth, a Hawaiian/Maori multi-instrumental phenomenon nominated for four grammy's at this years awards. This mountain of a man called his brah and got me a gig at Huggo's On the Rocks in downtown Kona for this Sunday before I head back to Vancouver...I am thrilled! He said he may be able to get there from his gig early to come jam with me...Nice!
